ST. COLUMBA COMMUNITY’S WARM SOCKS FOR THE SOLE DRIVE: HOW ARE WE DOING?
Our drive toward 1,000 pairs of warm socks for the 450 residents in local nursing homes started with a generous pile of donated socks. On our first official day, our school students and their families sent in over 428 pairs and our parishioners dropped off another 115 pairs of socks after Saturday and Sunday Masses. We are well on our way. Yes, we are reminded that ours is an ambitious and audacious goal for our community, but we also are coming to understand that “when you choose joy, you feel good and when you feel good, you do good, and when you do good, it reminds others of what joy feels like, and it might inspire them to do the same.”
Our sock drive ends on December 13.
The school entrance bulletin board reflects the 29 students who brought in at least 3 pairs of socks with their personalized and self-decorated socks. St. Columba students brought in 428 pairs of socks on the school-wide drive's first day.
