3rd grade Paleontology

St. Columba School's 3rd graders were studying the fascinating world of fossils. The class was interested in how they were made so their teacher Mrs. Coombe created a fossil pit of sorts. The students picked an object such as a seashell or a plastic dinosaur. They then mixed plaster of Paris into small trays, pressed their objects into the soft mixture and waited for their own fossils to be made.  Once the allotted time was up the students revealed their very own self-made fossils and no digging was necessary.
