Father Mowery blessed the throats of St. Columba School students in honor of St. Blaise. We did get the blessing a day ahead of time (Friday instead of Saturday) but that just made it even more special. This saint is known for his healing powers especially for illnesses of the throat. Two crossed candles tied by a red ribbon are traditionally used by Father Mowery as he says the blessing over each student and faculty member.
