Did you know that socks are the number one requested item by residents living in Nursing Homes? Yes, adult-sized, warm socks. And with over 450 residents in local nursing homes, the need in our area is great. St. Columba School is holding a sock drive with church parishioners beginning Oct. 31.
Students who bring in three pairs will have their decorated sock posted on the front entrance bulletin board and homerooms that collect 50 pairs will earn a dress down pass for every student.
Our goal is 1,000 pairs which will give each resident something to keep their soles warm while the other pair is in the laundry and a few extras, just in case.
St. Columba Church parishioners can join our effort by donating a new pair or a dozen pairs of socks for men and women, bringing them to church, and dropping them in the sock container located in the vestibule entrance by the parking lot.
Our sock drive ends on December 13.
